Free apps ‘may encourage teens to start smoking’

Pro-smoking apps which are free to download could increase teenagers’ risk of taking up the habit, researchers have warned.

App store bosses need to explore ways to regulate content, they said, after they found tobacco products are being promoted through smart phones.

In Ireland, there is already a general ban on tobacco advertising and promotion in the media and on the internet.
