HSE waiting lists lengthen for outpatients

The HSE yesterday sought to calm fears amid growing concerns over lengthening waiting lists for outpatients.

The HSE Performance Report for July, released this week, showed many large hospitals running over their budgets and more than 340,000 patients waiting on outpatient appointments.

Speaking on RTÉ Radio, Tony O’Brien, acting HSE chief executive, said urgent cases, including all cancer referrals, would need to be prioritised.
