Bunratty shooting

Two men arrested in Cork last weekend and questioned about an early morning murder in Bunratty, Co Clare, were yesterday released without charge.

Bunratty shooting

Robert Sheehan, who was laid to rest on Thursday, was shot several times at 3.40am last Sunday while attending his stepbrother’s wedding at the Bunratty Castle Hotel.

Following a period of detention in Cork, the arrested pair were taken to Limerick and held until yesterday.

Mr Sheehan, 22, was shot and fatally wounded after he went outside the front door of the hotel.

A gun was found a short distance from where the attack was carried out.

GardaĂ suspect the murder was in retaliation for a knife attack after a recent incident in Moyross in which a man received a slash wound to the neck.

Local sources in Moyross say the likely main suspect has left Limerick for Britain.
