European Affairs Minister Lucinda Creighton says her personal view of Turkey’s bid for EU membership has “not substantially changed” since she described it as an idea that “horrifies most ordinary citizens”.

The Government supports Turkey’s accession to the EU provided it implements economic, political, and human rights reforms.

But Ms Creighton has indicated that, while adhering to the Government position, she remains personally opposed to the idea.
