Gardaí narrow search for crash 4x4

A charcoal-grey Toyota 4x4 is thought to have struck and killed cyclist Paud O’Leary, 42, on the road between Gneeveguilla and Killarney, between 5am and 8am, on Jul 1.

Insp Tony Sugrue of Kanturk Garda Station yesterday said gardaí believe the vehicle left the scene of the accident at Scrahanfadda for the Duhallow area.

He said they were following “certain lines of inquiry” and several searches had been carried out. No arrests have been made.

It is believed the vehicle sustained damage to the front right-hand side, which should be visible on the bumper, lights, or wing.

Gardaí have also been checking with people in the motor trade who may have been approached for parts or repairs for the vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to contact gardaí in Kanturk on 029 20680 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800666111.
