Bog standard: Half of male drivers have toilet roll at all times
A survey of what people keep in their cars reveals that while 77% of men believe women are the most likely culprits for keeping âjunk in their trunksâ it is equally likely that men will store some strange items before making a journey.
The survey by the Jervis Shopping Centre found both sexes used their car as an extension of their bedroom, with 79% of men and 83% of women saying they get changed in the cramped confines of their vehicle on a regular basis.
Surprisingly, while 78% of men admit to storing spare shoes in their boot only 45% of women did likewise. And while 45% of men admitted they always ensure to have a toilet roll in the car, only 3% of women listed that as a priority.
The total contents of the average manâs car came in at âŹ300 worth with the majority of ladies totting theirs up at the âŹ200 mark.
The menâs items included sports kit, laptops, iPods, suits and sat navs. The girlsâ list included spare make-up, an extra outfit, and grooming products and straighteners.
Female drivers were 45% more likely than males to hide valuables such as their handbag and laptop out of view in the boot.
While which gender is better at parking the car may be one bone of contention for guys and gals, thereâs one thing they both agree on: The most important element on any road trip is good music, with 89% of girls and 87% of guys saying cool tunes are a must when youâre hitting the road.
The survey also revealed that not all males surveyed may not have been completely honest about their favourite driving tunes, as 46% of those questioned said the thing they would be most embarrassed about someone finding in their car is their selection of cringe-worthy CDs.
