MANY visitors to the Ring of Kerry are missing out on some of its greatest attractions by not deviating from better-known routes, a local councillor have claimed.

It would add a dimension to any holiday experience if visitors “went slightly off track” to places which are not so well known, according to Fine Gael councillor and former Tralee mayor Jim Finucane.

He urged Kerry County Council to re-brand the 180km Ring — one of the country’s busiest tourist routes — to promote “authentic aspects” of Kerry life and culture.
