THE number of people killed on Irish roads in 2011 has risen to 182 following a number of fatal accidents over the holiday period.

Two males and a female died in separate road accidents over the past 48 hours, bringing the total killed since December 23 to five.

A 59-year-old woman died following a collision between an SUV and a car in which she was driving at 4.30pm yesterday on the Kilcullen to Athy Road in Co Kildare.
