DESPITE net migration into Ireland nearly halving since 2006, tens of thousands of people are still coming from abroad to live in this country every year.

Initial figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) have surprised those who believed Ireland was no longer appealing to those from outside our shores.

The preliminary findings note that, while the demise of the Celtic Tiger has made this country significantly less attractive to migrants, it remains the destination of choice for a larger-than-expected level of new Irish.
