40 Shannon jobs under threat

A COMPANY in Clare has told staff it plans to seek as many as 40 redundancies in the coming months.

Management at Ei Electronics, based in the Shannon Industrial Estate, called workers to a meeting yesterday.

While a comment is awaited from the company, it is understood Ei Electronics is seeking between 30 and 40 redundancies from its 350 strong workforce. Forty job losses would account for over 11% of the staff at Shannon. However, there is speculation the move may only be a temporary measure.
