Trip advice site warns against Legends hotel
Internet users flocked to an online travel advice website to warn potential visitors to the Legends Hotel in Grand Gaube, Mauritius, where tragic Michaela was found strangled to death on Monday.
The news of the horrifying murder has travelled all over the globe and people are concerned about staying in the plush hotel.
One user from Zurich, Switzerland wrote: “Beware — murder in this hotel January 2011. Potential travellers must be made aware of this.” They added they would not recommend staying in the hotel to others.
The hotel in the extremely poor country looks set for a massive drop in business after the terrible tragedy.
Another contributor from Britain posted: “Be careful. Was thinking of going to go here on vacation.
“However, found out that a young lady was murdered there. She was on her honeymoon. It seems like she was killed in her room by someone who had a key. Police are interviewing staff.
“How sad is that?”
A man from Dublin added: “Looks like the end for Legends in a way.
“This will be a huge blow to their business. A well-known wife of a GAA player here in Ireland was murdered in her room while her husband had lunch in the restaurant downstairs.
“I stayed here myself in September with my wife on honeymoon and it was our best holiday ever.
“The news has shocked me. Everyone in Ireland is shocked. Mauritius is such a popular destination for people here.”
Another Irish user said the murder is a terrible tragedy: “An Irish girl Michaela Harte was murdered there in the last few days on her honeymoon. News reports say no sign of forced entry and that the intruder used an electronic key card. Her husband is not a suspect.
“She was a very popular girl and well known in Ireland as her father is a famous football manager. She was also a contestant on the Rose of Tralee.”
The hotel is still listed as the number one hotel in the Grand Gaube resort but users have been slashing their previously immaculate ratings since the news broke on Monday.
The Trip Advisor website gives travellers advice on holiday locations all over the world and allows users to rate hotels and restaurants. The top class hotel had been a favourite with honeymooners.
