Radio presenter goes on window display for charity
Mark Whelan, presenter of Live 95FM’s Breakfast Show, went on window display yesterday and will remain there until Saturday as part of a fundraiser for the Ark Children’s Unit at the Midwestern Regional Hospital in Dooradoyle and CARI.
Over the 95 hours, Mark will eat, sleep, watch telly and present his show in the window. Passers-by will also be able to watch Mark take part in challenges and tasks with local celebrities.
Mark says: “I’m really looking forward to it. To be honest, I’m a little bit scared — I guess I’ll get to find out how a gorilla feels in the zoo! But it should be good fun and it’s all for a great cause.”
As Mark continues his Big Brother-style incarceration, other members of Limerick’s Live 95FM will join the fundraising efforts with a variety of tasks and events. Gary Connor and Ann Bowen from the station’s Live Drive will do a city walk today, while JP Dillon of Live at Night fame has volunteered to do a school disco for grown-ups on Thomas Street on Friday.
Live95FM’s programme controller Gary Connor said: “We know the people of Limerick have hearts of gold and are very generous.”
Limerick’s Live 95FM is also inviting businesses, schools, voluntary groups and organisations to come up with fundraising ideas which they can take part, so as much money as possible can be raised for the two charities.
