Search is on to throw back the covers on Irish lovers

IRELAND may view itself as a modern, progressive nation, but the idea of revealing our pillow talk to all and sundry might be too much for us prudes to bear.

Search is on to throw back the covers on Irish lovers

Nevertheless, production company Areaman Production is scouring the nation for couples to reveal their most intimate secrets from their own boudoirs for The Irish in Bed.

However, those of a more Mary Whitehouse disposition need not fear. Areaman insists that while participants will be filmed in their own bedrooms, they will be free to wear as much clothing as they wish.

The Irish in Bed is an intimate film featuring people in Ireland sitting up and speaking out from the comfort of their own beds, the TV company said.

“We are looking for couples of all ages, backgrounds, religion and race to talk about their relationships and lives.”

Questions posed will range from the not too taxing – “When did you meet? Who do we love?” – to the potentially more prickly – “Can we trust in those with whom we share a bed? Do our relationships ultimately hold the key to our happiness?”

The documentary will also ask those it films to address the nation’s attitude to love and sex – topics which for so long were off-topic.

“Have we, as a society, shaken off the shackles of our well-documented sexual oppression at the hands of church and state?” Areaman Productions asked.

“The film will appeal to anyone who has ever shared a bed with another person, or who aspires to!”

Anyone over 18 years of age who would like to take part should contact the production team at info@areaman.tv or phone 01-478 9000. The deadline for entries is September 10.
