‘She was such a sincere young girl’

THE only female in the horrific fatal car crash in Co Kerry yesterday was described as “popular in the classroom” and “a “pleasant and outgoing” young girl by her school principal.

Sixteen-year-old Aine O’Riordan was a girlfriend of one of the Breen boys, both of whom also died in the tragedy. Her headmaster at St Joseph’s Secondary School in Castleisland, Seamus Falvey, said his thoughts were with her parents and three sisters.

“Aine was due to go into sixth year next Monday. We are shocked that this could have happened. Everyone is numb.”

Mr Falvey had visited her parents earlier yesterday and said they were “in a deep state of shock”.

“She was a very pleasant, happy and outgoing young girl. She was sincere, honest and popular. She was a good, honest person,” he said.

Aine played Gaelic football with the school football team and was described as being “full of life”.

“All we can do is think of and pray for her family. They are devastated. She was such a sincere young girl,” he said.
