Man’s body found in home after neighbours raise alarm
Supt Frank O’Brien of Henry Street Garda Station said there was nothing to suggest the death was suspicious.
Assistant state pathologist Dr Michael Curtis, gardaí said, carried out a postmortem exam as a matter of routine.
The dead man, James Guerin, aged 65, lived alone at Flood Street, Killalee.
Preliminary indications are he may have been dead for days.
Neighbours raised the alarm after they became concerned.
Supt O’Brien said there was no sign of a break-in or a disturbance in the house.
Meanwhile, gardaí are continuing investigations to establish the identity of a man recovered from the sea in Co Clare last week.
The body, believed to be that of a man in his 40s, was spotted at the base of the 700 foot high Cliffs of Moher by an American couple last Friday.
Gardaí have confirmed they still have not received a report of anyone missing in the area.
Officers have been in touch with Interpol as well as the authorities in Germany as they continue to investigate a possible link between the discovery a week earlier of the body of well-known German musician Christian Glinz.
Due to have celebrated his 44th birthday next Sunday, he was born in Switzerland but had been living in Berlin. His body was discovered near Kilkee on July 24 two days after his rental car was found abandoned near the Cliffs of Moher.
Despite not being reported missing for some time, gardaí confirmed they have now received an official missing person report for Mr Glinz.
Gardaí emphasised: “There is no evidence of a link between the two finds but we haven’t ruled out the possibility. We are at a loss at the moment.”
