Gardaí appeal for details on baby girl

Police in Banbridge in Co Down have said they are becoming increasingly concerned about the welfare of the little girl, whose name is Sophie.

She is the subject of a care order but was not returned to her carers after a routine visit from her mother on June 7.

On the morning of that day Sophie was collected as normal from premises on Scarva Street in the town at 10.20am.

She was to be taken to a mother and toddler’s group. The pair did not attend the group and have not been seen since.

It is believed that Sophie’s father may also be accompanying them.

Police in the North have conducted extensive enquiries and are appealing for assistance to locate Sophie as soon as possible.

The little girl is described as having dark, wavy hair and was wearing a cream John Rocha top with rusty coloured flowers, cream jeans with pink flowers and pink Doodles shoes. She may also have been wearing a yellow coat.

Her mother is described as being 30 years old, approximately 5ft 5in or 6in tall with a flushed complexion, a protruding lower lip and dark, straight hair parted in the middle.

She speaks with a strong Derry accent and was wearing jeans and a grey coloured hoodie.

Her father is described as boyish-looking with auburn, wavy hair and a light beard.

The PSNI is appealing to the parents to return Sophie to her carers as soon as possible or contact social services, their family or the police to let them know that they are safe.

The PSNI is also appealing to anyone who believes they may have seen Sophie or know of her whereabouts to contact them immediately on 0845 600 8000.
