‘There will be no delays to claims or renewals’

QUINN Insurance is standing by its commitment that its claims and policies would be processed as normal.

‘There will be no delays to claims or renewals’

Despite the job losses the company said it was business as usual for its hundreds of thousands of customers here. Customers who have claims with the insurance company or who are updating their cover would not experience any delays, said a spokesman for the group. He said: “Everything is operating as normal. Since the administration, claims have been processed as usual. They’re also still taking new policies on.”

There would be absolutely no delays because of the restructuring of Quinn Insurance, added the representative. But consumer advocates warned that a knock-on effect on business was inevitable. Consumer Association chief Dermot Jewell said: “The key issue is will the company be able to continue in the market? And what will be the mindset of its customers?

“There have been issues over lack of funds in the company, so customers might worry should they give over their money or will their claims be processed? The market is very frightened.”

Quinn Insurance administrators Grant Thornton last night said the job losses and restructuring of the company would only affect British customers.

While the majority of job losses are here, they are linked to business outside the country in Britain.

“All claims will continue to be met. This will only affect staff in the UK,” they said.
