Mullen shot staging a robbery in Ontario

FAMOUS for little and infamous for less, Orangeville, Dufferin County, Ontario, may finally have its day in the sun thanks to a man who clearly still hasn’t found what he’s looking for.

Mullen shot staging a robbery in Ontario

Gunned down on its mean streets, an unshaven Larry Mullen is carted off by emergency services in what looks like a scene from a bad movie.

In fact it is a scene from a movie – Man on the Train – which will mark the U2 drummer’s acting debut in the celebrated company of Canadian actors Donald Sutherland and Graham Greene.

The film, a remake of a 2002 French film L’Homme du Train, is the tale of two disparate characters thrust together by circumstance, both of whom crave a life completely different to what they have known. The original starred veteran French actor Jean Roche- fort and Gallic Elvis, Johnny Hallyday, whose role as a bank robber Mullen will reprise.

The 48-year-old Dublin- born rocker is taking a break from the band’s hectic tour and recording schedule to make his acting debut.

The Ireland-Canada co-production is being directed by Mary McGuckian, who previously directed Inconceivable, an unexceptional comedy about the test-tube baby industry.

Larry previously appeared in the film Entropy in 1999, about the life of American director Phil Joanau, displaying minimal acting skills as he played himself.

His appearance as a drummer in numerous music videos has not given any insight into his acting talents either.

However, even if his movie bombs, it will bring a little drama to the town of Orangeville, where the only colour is in its name.
