Pubs’ fury as rugby moved to Good Friday

IT’S the most mouth-watering fixture of the domestic rugby calendar — but the forthcoming clash of Munster and Leinster in the Magners League will be a dry affair after it was switched to Good Friday.

Publicans have been left counting the cost with ticket-less fans now forced to watch the game at home because pubs and clubs will be closed.

It is estimated that up to €10 million is spent in Limerick’s pubs, hotels, restaurants and shops alone on big rugby days at Thomond Park when Munster host visiting teams.
