Rumours abound in Dáil whodunnit
Fianna Fáil loudly protested its innocence and no one shed more tears than Dermot Ahern. He was “hurt” at the very idea he could somehow have been involved in such a foul act. His rough justice persona magically mellowed by the Trevor tragedy as Mr Ahern was left wailing at the cruelty of the Dáil, branding it a “terrible place for rumours”.
It’s also a dangerous place. Four careers dead in two weeks. As groups of shell-shocked deputies gathered and separated in excited huddles, the ornate corridors of Leinster House whispered and sighed with intrigue – but only two questions surged like electricity through the air: Who had taken Trevor down? And who would be next?
