Terrorism and gang crime top of policing plan

TERRORIST threats and gang crime have topped the list in the force’s policing plan for the next three years.

Garda Commissioner Fachtna Murphy outlined the six-tier strategy yesterday stating: “I am particularly aware of the potential impact that the economic downturn could have on crime levels and also on the effects it is having on our own membership both sworn and civilian.”

National security was a priority – including identifying threats from national terrorist and extremist groups as well as the threat from international ones, the plan said.
