Charity gig in honour of Manuela

THE parents of a Swiss student murdered just days after she arrived in Galway hope to travel to the city for a charity night in her memory.

Charity gig in honour of Manuela

A music event will be staged for the Manuela Riedo Foundation in October.

The parents, Hans-Peter and Arlette Riedo, set up the foundation in her name to support victims of rape across Europe.

Tickets for the event are available from O’Connells Bar, Zhivago Records, The Forster Court Hotel and the Salthill Hotel.

Manuela’s body was discovered on October 8, 2007, three days after she arrived in the country for a language course.

In March, Gerald Barry, 29, of Rahoon in Galway, was found guilty of her murder and sentenced to life imprisonment.
