Irish prices second dearest in EU

IRISH prices for everyday items were the second highest in the European Union last year, according to the annual price survey released by Eurostat.

The cost of alcohol and tobacco in Ireland were the highest – close to double the EU average.

For food, including meat, milk, fruit, vegetables and bread, the prices in Ireland were the second highest of all 27 member states.
