Council lifts water warning

LIMERICK County Council, following consultation with the Health ServiceExecutive, yesterday removed a drinking water alert which had affected 2,000 residents in the heritage village of Adare, Co Limerick.

Council lifts water warning

The notice was put in place last Friday following the detection of a deterioration in the water quality coming from the village water treatment plant.

Extensive testing by the council’s environmental laboratory has shown that the quality of the supply is meeting all required health standards.

Donal Brennan, senior engineer, water services said: “The introduction of a boil notice was deemed a necessary precautionary measure to ensure that public health was not put at risk.

“Drinking water restrictions affecting 700 households in Adare and surrounding areas have now been lifted.

“Limerick County Council will continue to monitor the water supply to ensure compliance with water quality standards. The council would like to thank the public for their support.”
