Adare boil notice remains
Council engineers worked over the weekend to rectify a problem at the village water treatment plant that led to elevated aluminium levels in the local supply.
Drinking water is being offered from a tanker located near the village heritage centre until the boil notice is lifted. The council hopes to give the all-clear in the next 24 hours.
Donal Brennan, senior water services engineer, said the treatment efficiency of the Adare plant was found to be reduced. This had “caused excess aluminium concentrations in the delivered water and vulnerable users such as those persons with poor kidney function, renal failure and, in particular, those on renal dialysis are advised not to drink the water, but to use alternative supplies”.
While the notice stands, water for drinking, brushing teeth and food preparation should be boiled.
