THE Government was yesterday called on to take action over the refusal of the HSE to give funding to maintain services provided by the Brothers of Charity in Limerick and Clare to intellectually disabled adults.

Bob Sillery, chief executive of the Brothers of Charity services, said the refusal of the HSE to hand over €1.5 million — which he says they are owed — will force a layoff of up to 60 staff.

Fine Gael’s Kieran O’Donnell has now tabled a Dáil motion in respect of long-overdue, day-to-day government funding to the Brothers of Charity.
