Protestors: Get tough or get lost

CAMPAIGNERS protested outside the Green Party offices in Dublin, accusing the junior coalition partners of “selling out” on their environmental principles since going into Government.

Protestors: Get tough or get lost

“It is time for the Green Party to either get tough, or get lost,” said the TaraWatch group.

Members have been lobbying to change the route of the M3 motorway away from the historic Skryne Valley and said the Greens were going to add taxes and stealth taxes — to pay for motorways — and support cuts in public transport spending.

Protesters sold lumps of coal to passing members of the public, “to highlight the madness of Green Party proposals for carbon taxes, as opposed to a reduction in public spending on carbon-producing motorways,” said Siobhan Rice of TaraWatch.

“If the Green Party had any connection to reality, they would be calling for a cost-benefit analysis of the roads programme, instead of calling for more taxes and supporting cuts in social services to the vulnerable,” said TaraWatch’s Vincent Salafia.
