Italian jacket could help identify body

A DISTINCTIVE Italian leather jacket could be crucial in identifying a body found washed up in Cork Harbour this week.

Italian jacket could help identify body

Gardaí released photographs yesterday of the clothes found on the remains of a man discovered on the foreshore at Passage West on Monday.

Supt Barry McPolin said investigating officers hope the images of the man’s runners, t-shirt and jacket will help jog someone’s memory.

“The clothes are quite distinctive,” he said.

The deceased was white, aged between 20 and 35, tall and thin — about six foot two inches with a 30-inch waist and size eight shoes.

He was wearing navy canvass Converse runners, with a distinctive white toe cap, navy blue denim Energie brand denim jeans, and a round neck long-sleeve casual Gap top, made of 100% Italian merino wool.

He was also wearing a brown t-shirt which had the words, “supreme being” printed across the chest, alongside the image of a tank mounted with a can of spray paint.

But gardaí hope that the expensive Italian goat leather bomber jacket, a Fifty Five DSL brand, will jog someone’s memory.

It is worth between €400 and €600 and is available in only a handful of outlets.

It has two zipped waist pockets, two zipped chest pockets, and a nine inch zip on either sleeve. The jacket had a wide brown elastic waist band.

The remains were found on Monday morning. They had been in the water for up to five weeks.

Gardaí are satisfied that foul play was not involved in the man’s death.

They examined missing persons files but have so far drawn a blank.

Gardaí urged anyone with information to contact them at Passage West on 021-4841001 or in Togher on 021-4947120.
