HEALTH MINISTER Mary Harney provoked a row during the day’s proceedings when attempting to defend the Government’s record on that front.

The incident happened when Ms Harney, on behalf of the Progressive Democrats, rose to praise Brian Cowen during the nomination process for the office of taoiseach.

Sinn Féin’s Dáil leader Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin had spoken before her, criticising the Government’s record in health and other areas.
