Ard Scoil Ris on top

A LARGE crowd turned out for the Thomas Crosbie Holdings All Ireland Schools quiz second round heat, which took place at the Quality Hotel, Limerick.

An exciting first quiz saw Ard Scoil Ris, Limerick, lead all the way with a final score of 98 points over Castletroy College with 88 points. In third place was Coláiste Mhuire Askeaton with 66 points.

The players from Ard Scoil Ris were Richard Bourke, Jamie King, Stephen Egan and Darren O’Connor.

The second quiz was a close contest between the all-boys team from Salesian Secondary School, Pallaskenry and the girls of Scoil Carmel from O’Connell Avenue, Limerick. The teams were neck-and-neck for nine rounds, but Salesians, with a very strong final round, pulled away to win 98 points to 82 points.

The winning team members were Gerard Mullane, Eanna McGarrigle, Damien O’Brien and Colin Hogan.
