DRUGS and cash totalling more than €4 million have been seized in Dublin over the past 72 hours.

Cocaine with a street value of €400,000 was seized in two separate operations in Dublin on Saturday and yesterday.

One seizure at Dublin Airport by customs officers yielded a cocaine haul with a street value of €330,000.

The drugs were found in a bag belonging to a man who had arrived on a flight from Malaga.

A 20-year-old British man has been arrested and is being held in Santry Garda Station.

Meanwhile, gardaí from Ronanstown arrested a 24-year-old man during a search of a house in Clondalkin, south-west Dublin at 2am yesterday and seized cocaine worth €70,000.

The man’s arrest is part of an ongoing operation to target the supply of illegal drugs in Clondalkin.

Small quantities of what are believed to be crack cocaine and cannabis resin, as well as drug paraphernalia, were also seized.

The man is being detained at Ronanstown Garda Station under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.

On Saturday morning a 40-year-old man was arrested following the seizure of 20kg of cannabis resin at the airport.

A total of 20kg of herbal cannabis was seized by customs as part of a joint operation with the Garda National Drugs Unit.

The drugs, believed to have originated in South Africa, are understood to have been brought in by a west African drug gang.

On Friday, more than €1m worth of cannabis was seized in the Ranch area of Ballyfermot in south-west Dublin. Two men were detained.
