THE Irish Congress of Trade Unions has vowed to take a tougher, more selfish stance in next month’s national pay talks.

It has also said it will call the Government to account for basing public service pay increases on a private sector where an “old boys’ network” keeps the rich getting richer at the expense of the ordinary worker.

ICTU general secretary David Begg yesterday criticised the secretive manner in which the pay and perks of top private sector bosses are decided.
