A strong Europe can bring hope, says McAleese

THE 56th international session of the European Youth Parliament was yesterday opened by President Mary McAleese.

Delegates from across Europe inclusive of Belarus, Ukraine, Russia and Serbia, assembled in the Dáil for a two-day discussion on policies ranging from climate change to border control.

In her opening address to the young delegates, President McAleese said that in this, the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, Europe had never been so secure, so prosperous and so free.
