Stones’ fans to roll in via helicopter
With seating rolled out for the 70,000 golden ticket-holders, the sold-out event promises not to disappoint come rain or shine — but again don’t forget your umbrella.
Those seeking ‘a bigger bang’ are even travelling by helicopter to the event.
Joanne Schworer for Celtic Helicopters says the Stones’ concert will be one of the busiest days in their calendar.
“We’ll have five of our helicopters, carrying four to six people every half an hour from midday with a total of 250 people travelling to the castle altogether,” she said.
“I can’t tell you who but there’ll be about 10 major celebs flying into the venue with us.
“On top of that there’ll be 50 private helicopters flying in and we’ll be managing their landing,” she said.
Unfortunately, the elite service is sold out for the Stones, but for a meagre €350 per person you can catch your own ride to the next major event.
“Since 1985 our business has increased twofold. There’s more money about now and people want to take their concert experience to the next level,” said Ms Schworer.
“Nothing beats Slane Castle for the setting of a concert.”
The Stones will be entertaining their guest with hits from a selection of their 55 released albums.
For those far back from the stage additional plasma screens will feed back the live performance, while a large IMAX screen will give backing effects.
The top music money makers will perform on a stage one-and-a-half times the usual size.
The band first headlined Slane 25 years ago.
