30 on the run abroad for serious crimes

THIRTY people wanted by gardaí for serious crimes such as murder, rape and drug offences are on the run outside of Ireland.

The annual report from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has revealed how the number of European arrest warrants requested by gardaí reached its highest figure ever last year.

Only half of all warrants issued, however, resulted in the arrest of the accused by foreign police.
