Book of evidence served on wife
Dilorom Sulaymanov, 35, is accused of the manslaughter of her husband, Abduazim Sulaymanov, 39, at their home at 7 Pinewood, Ballinlough Road, Cork. It is alleged that she assaulted him on December 31, 2006 and that he died of his injuries on January 7.
Inspector Michael Comyns confirmed at Cork District Court yesterday that the book of evidence had been served. The inspector then applied to have the case returned for trial at the next sessions of Cork Circuit Criminal Court commencing on October 30.
Defence solicitor Eddie Burke applied for the appointment on free legal aid of a junior counsel and senior counsel to represent the accused in the circuit court because of the seriousness of the charge.
Judge Uinsín Mac Gruairc granted that application. He also informed the defendant of the legal requirement on an accused person to give certain notices to be given to the State if they intended to call witnesses in an alibi defence.
The Uzbek woman was remanded on continuing bail on condition that she surrender her passport to Detective Sergeant Declan O’Sullivan who investigated the case, and not apply for another one, lodge cash of €2,000 and agree to sign on three times a week at her local garda station.
