The news was not quite as good for Tánaiste Michael McDowell, who was voted the second-worst politician.
The snap poll by the employment company showed 20% of respondents giving Mr McDowell a thumbs down. Health Minister Mary Harney got 26% of the votes for doing a bad job.
When asked to judge the progress of departments or services, respondents said the Government’s worst failure was in the area of health (57%), followed by transport (13%).
The greatest success was regarded as enterprise, trade and employment (44%) followed by finance (18%).
Nursing, at 44%, was the job that most respondents thought party leaders should do for one month, followed by refuse collectors at 22% and a garda, at 13%.
Respondents said they would install Bob Geldof, Michael O’Leary and Roy Keane as ministers for health, transport and sport respectively.
