Government ‘must develop fair society’
The CORI Justice director said the main question to be answered was: “What kind of Ireland do we want in the coming decades?”
CORI Justice, which was one of the groups which signed the last four national agreements, represents over 135 religious congregations with 11,000 members.
“The challenge facing an incoming government is to develop a society characterised by fairness and wellbeing,” said Fr Healy.
“The future that emerges will result from the decisions taken now. In the context of our growing national prosperity it is time that we gave priority to developing a fair and sustainable society.”
He called for the development of a rights-based approach to social, economic and cultural issues: “We stand at a crossroads. Ireland needs a government committed to an agenda for fair and sustainable progress. The choice is ours.”
