Woman held over stabbing released without charge
A file on the matter is being prepared by gardaí for the DPP.
The victim, a 36-year-old from the Czech Republic, died after receiving knife wounds at his home in Roscrea, on Sunday night.
Gardaí yesterday confirmed they had recovered a number of possible weapons which may have been used in the attack.
A woman, a Slovak national, was arrested late Monday morning and questioned in connection with the man’s death.
The 33-year-old was released at 9.30pm last night after her period of detention came to an end.
The victim has been named locally as Patrick Solenski, but gardaí declined to confirm his identity until all of his relatives have been informed.
He lived with his wife and their two children in Roscrea for the last five years. It is understood they had lived in a rented three-bedroom house in New Line, on the southern end of the town, for the last number of years.
Both of their children, Patrick, 13, and Tomaz, nine, attend a local school. They are believed to have been in the house at the time of the stabbing. A number of other family members are also thought to have been there.
The suspect was arrested under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, which allows for a maximum detention period of 24 hours, excluding sleep breaks.
Gardaí have appealed for any people who witnessed the movements of people in and out of the house on Sunday night to come forward.
Gardaí found the deceased on the floor of the kitchen when they were called to the house at around 11pm. A local doctor pronounced the man dead at the scene.
