CONCERNS over inflation dominated the opening of yesterday’s first plenary session of the Government and the social partners at Dublin Castle yesterday.

The two leading union leaders in the country, David Begg of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions, and SIPTU’s Jack O’Connor both referred to the rate of inflation as a worrying trend.

Last month, Mr Begg predicted the Towards 2016 agreement may have to be renegotiated if the cost of living continued to rise.
