North move to drop bank charges has no impact here

GARDAÍ yesterday said the shock decision in the North to drop two prosecutions in relation to the Northern Bank robbery would have no impact on any prosecutions here.

Gardaí submitted a file to the Director of Public Prosecutions at the end of last November and recommended charges be brought in relation to a number of individuals.

The mammoth garda investigation centres on the suspected attempt to launder part of the £26.5 million (€39m) taken in the December 2004 heist.
