Young scientists at the ready
While 500 secondary and primary school students are polishing their projects, the organisers of the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition are also getting their party pieces in order. With less than two weeks to go before the doors of the RDS open for the 43rd competition, a packed schedule of events has been announced.
Organisers are putting in place a wide array of stalls and exhibits to entertain children and visitors alike.
Top of the pile is the first trip by “bogglevision” technology to Irish shores. This treat involves a 3-D interactive set-up which is programmed to explain the questions every kid wants to ask and many more they may never even think of.
If that is too tame there will be bush-tucker trials and jungle challenges in the Ecology section of hall with the aim of finding the most daring student at the annual science carnival.
The thrust of many sideline attractions will focus on environmental problems and TV presenter Duncan Stewart will bring the issues raised in his new programme to the floor of the RDS for a lunchtime discussion on climate change.
