Two released in Saulite murder probe
Two men were yesterday released from garda stations after over 48 hours of custody in connection with the killing.
A file will now be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions on the matter of looking to bring charges.
Both men, from Lebanon and aged 26 and 27, were arrested early on Tuesday morning. Detectives swooped in dawn raids on their homes where the men live with their families.
One was arrested in Blanchardstown, west Dublin, while the second was arrested at his home in Raheny, north Dublin. Both men work in the city.
Both were held under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, which covers the possession or intent to posses arms. They were released yesterday morning after questioning at garda stations in Malahide and Coolock.
Gardaí are quietly confident of making further arrests in connection with the murder of Ms Saulite.
The mother-of-two was gunned down in a contract killing last month, as she chatted with friends on the doorsteps of her Swords home.
Her remains were returned to her family and buried in Latvia last weekend.
The 28-year-old mother-of-two had recently given evidence in an abduction case against her estranged husband, Lebanese man Hassan Hassan, who is in prison for his role in the organised theft of luxury cars.
Her solicitor, John Hennessy, had fled his home after receiving threats to his life.
A reward of €10,000 has been offered to catch Ms Saulite’s killer.
Gardaí from Swords have circulated leaflets in English, Latvian, Arabic and Russian in an appeal for information.
