Wet, wet, wet: winter makes its mark

IRELAND was buffeted by storm-force winds and relentless rain yesterday as the weather played havoc with airline and ferry schedules and caused traffic disruption throughout the country.

Flash flooding hit many areas as rain fell all day, with many traffic delays reported by gardaí.

While the worst of the wind and rain had cleared by last night, the current spell of extreme conditions is not over yet, with more strong winds and heavy rain expected in the coming nights.
