Supermarket manager held overnight by gang of raiders

GARDAÍ are investigating a kidnapping and robbery in Dundalk, Co Louth, which took place at the weekend.

Supermarket manager held overnight by gang of raiders

The manager of the Superquinn store at the Carroll Village Shopping Centre in Dundalk was approached by a group of men late on Saturday night as he locked up the store.

The gang then held the victim overnight at an outdoor location, which is currently undisclosed.

They then brought him back to the Superquinn store yesterday morning where he and two female staff members, who had arrived for work, were subsequently held.

Gardaí say a substantial amount of cash was stolen.

None of the staff members were harmed.

However, the three victims were said to be shocked and traumatised by their ordeal.

The raiders left the supermarket at around 10.00am yesterday morning.

Gardaí were last night trying to establish whether or not the gang was armed.

A Dublin registered black Almera van, thought to be used by the raiders, was recovered by the PSNI just north of the border in Co Armagh yesterday morning.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact gardaí in Dundalk on 042-9388400.
