Construction worker killed in freak accident

AN Italian worker was killed in a freak accident on a busy Limerick street yesterday.

He was unloading metal pipes from a delivery truck which was parked opposite Dunnes Stores in Henry Street when he received fatal injuries in front of shocked onlookers.

He is understood to have been struck by a piece of piping and gardaí say it may have been hurtled like a projectile into the victim’s chest after striking the alloy wheel of a passing car.
