‘Red tape’ blamed for invalid plans

UP to 20% of planning applications to Kerry County Council are declared invalid because applicants or their agents do not comply with all the regulations.

This means additional costs for applicants, who must resubmit applications, and extra work for council staff who are already hard pressed to cope with a huge number of applications.

Killorglin Fine Gael Cllr Johnny (Porridge) O’Connor yesterday hit out at excess ‘red tape’ and some ‘sloppy’ agents who constantly send in invalid plans.
