100 workers call in sick to hospital every day

MORE than 100 workers at Dublin’s Mater Hospital phone in sick every day, new figures show.

Management have vowed to crackdown on the high rate of absenteeism after revealing that 24,431 days were lost last year. The hospital employs around 2,000 people.

An average of 41 nurses, 32 support staff and 17 administrative staff were absent every day last year.
