McDowell u-turn on plans to shut casinos

JUSTICE Minister Michael McDowell yesterday made a dramatic u-turn on plans to shut down casinos.

He announced the change of mind after a Cabinet meeting decided in favour of regulating the business.

“We had a discussion of this matter in Government. The Government has asked me to come back with proposals for a regulatory approach rather than a prohibitionary approach,” Mr McDowell said.
