A TOUGH new crackdown on human trafficking was approved by the Cabinet yesterday.

Justice Minister Michael McDowell said the move would give greater protection to vulnerable children and counter the movement of human organs by crime gangs.

Sex offenders will also face up to five years in jail for failing to register under the proposed Criminal Law (Trafficking in Persons and Sexual Offences) Bill 2006.
